Hiking

Brålands Gård boarders to a nature reserve and everybody who comes here is surprised over the wild and absolutely stunning and powerful nature. There is a 1 km long trail along the river which connects to the famous Bohusleden. Bohusleden reaches all the way from south of Gothenburg to Strömstad, just before the boarder to Norway. The trail is divided into 27 day´s march and number 16 Kaserna to Borgmästarbruket is connected to Brålands Gård.

Day 1
Self check-in from 3 PM. We have prepared maps with various hiking suggestions, including detailed information about the Bohusleden trail and recommended loop trails with start from the farm. We recommend a short hike to the impressive Brålandsfallet waterfall upon arrival, and if you’re lucky, you may see jumping Atlantic salmon in the falls. In our small farm shop, you can purchase local delicacies such as ice cream, elk sausage, local beer, and chips. Feel free to end the evening in one of our sauna tents from Bast or by the fire at one of our many BBQ spots.

Day 2
Stages 16 and 17 of the Bohusleden are considered some of the most beautiful sections of the entire trail. Here, you’ll follow the winding path of the Örekilsälven river up to Kärnsjön, where the agricultural landscape transitions into a wilderness feel as you walk into the vast forests. After a day of hiking, we suggest you relax in one of our sauna tents from Bast. You have free access to the sauna tents throughout your stay at the farm. Cleaning of the accommodation and bed linen are included in the package, but meals are not. The stay is self-catering, but we highly recommend visiting the farm shop. If you need to restock any food, the nearest grocery store is only 1 km away.

Day 3
Check-out by 11 AM. You can either hike a 6 km loop trail starting downstream from the farm today, instead of upstream like yesterday, or we recommend a couple of shorter hikes just a short distance from the farm. These options will allow you to head back home, recharged and full of new experiences and memories.

Strömman Nature Reserve is known for its steep mountain slopes, deep ravines, and wild forests. Here, you hike through a dramatic landscape with traces of the Ice Age, such as giant kettles and polished rocks. At one point, the Bohusleden trail crosses from one side of the river, Munkedalsälven, to the other using a raft. This is where your adventurous spirit comes into play, as you’ll need to brave the rushing water—an exciting experience for the whole family! The raft can be found on Bohusleden stage 15. We suggest you start at Kaserna and hike a loop trail past the raft and back to Kaserna, approximately a 2-hour hike.

Maltes Stig offers a beautiful hike along Gullmarsfjorden, leading you to the innermost point of the fjord. Here, you can enjoy the peaceful nature and stunning views of the water and surrounding landscape. This scenic trail is part of Kuststigen, where the surrounding beauty invites you to pause and take in the serenity of the fjord. With easy access close to the motorway, it’s the perfect escape for a short adventure, offering both tranquility and breathtaking views along the way

Fishing in Örekilsälven

Salmon Fishing Package

Here, you will get an introduction to the noble art of salmon fishing. The Örekils River is one of the West Coast’s best salmon rivers, home to a genuine wild salmon population. From the farm, you can hear the river rushing through the valley below.

Fishing gear, including rods, reels, and waders, can be rented on-site, and we also sell suitable lures in our fishing shop. Fishing permits can be purchased online at www.elveguiden.no, and we are happy to assist you in getting the correct permits for the right fishing stretches, based on current conditions.

Arrival in the afternoon (after 3 PM) with an introduction to the fishing areas, including a marked map of the best salmon fishing spots. We will go through the appropriate equipment and strategies for salmon fishing. You will also have 2 hours of free access to the sauna tent each day.

Fishing in the river on your own. Check-out at 11 AM.

Lake Fishing Package

We have several beautiful lakes around the farm, home to large pike, perch, and zander. Below is a suggested package, but we are happy to accommodate your preferences.

Day 1
